We were thrilled to join our corporate partners at Kernow Conservation, for their water vole release yesterday!
Water voles are ecosystem engineers, benefitting habitats and resources for many other wildlife! Their burrowing habits reduce erosion and improve water quality. As herbivores, they feed on a large variety of plants, helping to control plant growth and promote diversity. Both of these attributes enhance the local biodiversity, creating more resilience within the ecosystem. 100 of these furry creatures will be fully released into the local environment by the end of the week – doing what they do best!
Sadly, we’re not the only ones who know how amazing water voles are, as they have many predators about, which is another reason why we are so pleased to support Kernow Conservation’s reintroduction project and we are excited to hear how these little guys get on!
Thank you again to the team at Kernow Conservation for the opportunity to get involved and for also bringing together a fantastic group of like-minded businesses. Also thank you to Higher Trewithen – it was great to see the amazing work they are doing on their land and making space for nature.
